Iyengar Yoga Workshop with Randy Just

Iyengar yoga emphasizes posture and the development of balance and alignment.  To support students’ explorations of postures, Iyengar yoga makes use of a wide variety of props.  The precision of Iyengar yoga is a necessary compliment  that will serve to enhance your practice.

Randy is the director of B. K S. Iyengar Yoga Studio of Dallas. His study of Yoga began in the 70’s, by the mid 80’s he extended his knowledge by becoming a devoted student of Iyengar Yoga. Randy’s innate sense of humor coupled with an insightful understanding of Iyengar Yoga will both inspire and challenge you enhancing the depth, clarity and focus of your practice.

Come prepare your body & soul for the work week with Lauren on Sundays from 3:15 - 4:45 pm at Soul Fitness Yoga. Lauren is guiding a Mixed Level Hatha Yoga practice to support her 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification. Any cash donation received through June will fund her training. Regular membership rates do not apply – this is a DONA class – for donation only.

4 Week Beginner Yoga Series

This series is strongly recommended for all of those new to yoga as well as those who would like to deepen their understanding of the yoga process.  We will introduce you to simple yoga postures, how yoga classes are generally structured and how to make your practice safe.  Questions and discussion are encouraged.  You will be introduced to:

* breathing technique
* body alignment and form
* flexibility and strength
* increased range of motion and mobility  
* improved concentration and balance

Nia White Belt Intensive
With Holly Curtis
August 29th-September4th

Soul Fitness is proud to hold our second Nia White Belt Intensive.
 

The Nia White Belt Intensive Training is the somatic and mindful study of the 13 Nia White Belt Principles. Each Day is divided into highly interactive sessions where you will learn, move, and practice the Science, Craft, and Art of the Nia Body of Work. This is accomplished using both cognitive and experiential learning models. This 7-day experience offers leading edge education in movement dynamics, body-mind physiology, kinesiology, choreography, physical/x-ray anatomy, and music appreciation. In addition you will participate with other students in Nia classes to witness the power of the Nia Technique in practice. The Nia Intensive experience empowers every Body to take their practice and their life the next level.

The training will begin on Friday, August 29th, at noon.
Sessions will meet Saturday - Wednesday, 7:30am until 6pm, Thursday until 4:30pm.
Times will vary slightly from day to day.
The schedule includes a 90 minute lunch break each day.
Tuition is $1599.

Holly Curtis is an inspiring master teacher and trainer of the Nia Technique. She began her practice of Nia in 1993, following 11 years in the fitness profession. She brings 26 years of experience in movement and fitness to her ongoing classes, workshops, and intensive trainings. She holds a B.S. in Kinesiology, and an M.Ed. in Health Education from the University of Texas in Austin. Ms. Curtis is nationally recognized as one of the top Nia trainers and travels throughout the United States supporting and training Nia teachers.

Laughter Yoga

Eleven years ago Dr Madan Kataria, an Indian doctor and student of Yoga was writing a paper for a medical
journal titled 'Laughter is the best medicine'. Convinced of the medical benefits of laughter and Yogic breathing
exercises, Doctor Kataria was searching for a way to bring these benefits to modern man. You can't prescribe 20
minutes of laughter a day, and for best effect a range of different types of laughter should be combined. In a flash
of inspiration Laughter Yoga was born. Thanks to Doctor Kataria, countless people all over the world today enjoy
the benefits of a daily dose of laughter practicing Laughter Yoga
